Before a child’s start date CLASP must have received a fully completed. When a child starts at CLASP after school club they are given the opportunity to come into the setting when it is up and running for a visit. This visit will either be with the Manager or Deputy Manager. In this visit, the child and parent/carer will be given a tour of the club, meeting the staff who will collect the child on their first day, the children, and time for any questions. The staff member will advise the parent/carer to inform the child’s teacher they will be attending CLASP. The parent/carer will be give a welcome pack with the terms and conditions, personal payment plan, newsletter and holiday club programme if required.
On the child’s first day a note consisting of the child’s full name and what school they attend will be in the diary to make all staff aware of the new child. The child will be put with a partner they know or staff feel will get on with. When arriving at Leith primary, staff will show the child where the cloakroom and toilets are. On collection CLASP staff will show the parent/carer where to sign their child out, where their child is and introduce themselves if they have not met.
